Capitalism and/or Democracy
I was taught growing up that capitalism and democracy work together to create opportunities and freedoms.
My definition of capitalism is that it gives people the freedom to build businesses, earn money, and make choices. Democracy gives people the freedom to vote and have a voice.
However, over the last few years, I've found that the two do not always work perfectly together.
The problem starts when money becomes too powerful. In a democracy, every person is supposed to have an equal voice. But wealthy people and large companies now have more influence through campaign donations, lobbying, and the media, and people's voices matter far less.
Capitalism and democracy can work together, but only if there are rules that keep things fair. A free society needs opportunity, accountability, and limits on too much private power. The big question I have is, can democracy survive if money has too much control?
